Web directories

  • Alaska Natives Online: This site has a particular emphasis on Tlingit and Haida resources, but also provides extensive links to other resources related to all other Alaska Native groups.
  • American Indian Resources: A library of Native American literature, culture, education, history, issues, and language.
  • American Indians: Index of Native American Resources on the Internet: Through the WWW Virtual Library.
  • Bill's Aboriginal Links: Internet sites related to aboriginal peoples -- including Alaska Natives and Native Americans and Canadian First Nations -- on the web; includes many resources on indigenous peoples and the law.
  • CSU Monterey Bay Indian Server: A national server for community networking; includes sites for several Indian tribes and other Native American resources.
  • NAPE Aboriginal Links: Extensive resource listing from the Native Access Program for Engineering at Lakehead University, Ontario, Canada.
  • Native American Indian Culture, Education, Art, Science, History: Native Sources: The pages are no longer maintained; the author, Paula Giese, passed away during summer 1997.
  • NativeSearch: Resource listing and search engine.
  • NativeWeb: "The content of NativeWeb at the moment is predominantly about the Americas, from the Arctic to Amazonia. In time, this will change. As access to the Web grows, as native peoples of other continents reach out through cyber-space, NativeWeb will grow also. Already there are links to the Sami of Northern Europe, the Maori of New Zealand, and Aboriginal Peoples of Australia.... Our purpose is not to 'preserve,' in museum fashion, some vestige of the past, but to foster communication among people engaged in the present and looking toward a sustainable future for those yet unborn."

  • Native America Calling: A live daily call-in program which explores contemporary issues concerning Alaska Natives and Native Americans; airs on many public radio stations in Alaska and nationally.
  • Wotanging Ikche (Native American News): This daily compilation of articles (with table of contents) from listservs and Usenet News groups devoted to Native American subjects provides an excellent means of keeping up-to-date on important issues and events.
