Alaska Native organizations

  • Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN). Statewide organization of Alaska Natives advocating for Alaska Native people, their governments, and their organizations with respect to federal, state, and local laws and governments. AFN holds a statewide convention annually in October in Anchorage.
  • Alaska Inter-Tribal Council
  • Alaska Native Health Board (ANHB). A statewide voice on Alaska Native health issues, ANHB serves as the Standing Committee on Health for the Alaska Federation of Natives.
  • Inuit Circumpolar Conference. Representing the 125,000 Inuit of Russia, Alaska, Canada, and Greenland in the international arena of environmental and social initiatives, the Inuit Circumpolar Conference holds NGO (non-governmental organization) status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
