Exxon Valdez Oil Spill

  • Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council. Provides information about the impacts of the March 24, 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Prince William Sound, Alaska, the injury and recovery of fish, wildlife, and people of the spill region, and information about ongoing restoration and research activitites. The Trustee Council was formed to oversee the use of the $900 million civil settlement for restoration of the ecosystems injured by the oil spill. The Council consists of three state and three federal trustees (or their designees). (See also the fact sheet from the Alaska Office of Boards and Commissions.)
