Alaska Statewide Environmental Crimes Unit (ECU)
ECU investigates and prosecutes violations involving hazardous waste, oil spills, wastewater, air pollution, seafood processing, and other health-related and environmental crime. ECU has statewide jurisdiction. It receives its funding from the Department of Environmental Conservation, but includes personnel from both DEC (three criminal investigators) and the Alaska Department of Law (one Assistant Attorney General).
