Uniform Crime Reports
The Federal Bureau of Investigation annually publishes Crime in the United States, which contains statistics on crimes reported to U.S. law enforcement authorities participating in the FBI's UCR program. Not all law enforcement agencies in the U.S. participate in the UCR program.

  • "The Nation's Two Crime Measures." U.S. Department of Justice, Nov 1995, NCJ 122795. Decribes the purposes and advantages of the Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) of the FBI and the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) of the Bureau of Justice Statistics as measures of crime in the United States.
  • Uniform Crime Reports. The FBI's annual Crime in the United States reports, as well as hate crime statistics and statistics on law enforcement officers killed and assaulted, downloadable in Acrobat PDF format. Statistics are also available from the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS).
