Prison law

  • The Other Side of the Wall (Prison Law Page). Articles and resources for and by prisoners, ranging from developments in California prison legislation to research to prison terminology to poetry, essays, and fiction by inmates. Although this site focuses on California prisons, much of its material may be relevant to other states as well. The site is maintained by a staff attorney of the San Francisco-based Prison Law Office, a private, nonprofit organization providing direct legal services to California prisoners, class action litigation, public education, and technical assistance to other attorneys.
  • Prison Legal News. Nonprofit newsletter published by prisoners at Washington State Penitentiary; includes back articles on a wide variety of issues such as prison discipline, women in prison, racism, jail and prison populations, HIV incidence, etc.
