Prison ships
- The Ship
Success by Richard J. Norgard. HMS Success was
launched in Burma in 1840 and saw service as a receiving prison
ship in Victoria, Australia, from 1852 to 1869. Later refurbished
as an exhibition ship, it visited ports in Australia, Britain,
and the U.S. trading on its falsified history as a convict transport
ship. It was torched by arsonists in Ohio on July 4, 1946. This
