Policing and Law Enforcement Directorate
Part of the Department of the Solicitor General of Canada, the directorate provides advice and support to the Solicitor General in his statutory responsibility to provide direction to the RCMP.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) / Gendarmerie royale du Canada (GRC)
The RCMP, under the authority of the Solicitor General of Canada, is the Canadian national police service, providing law enforcement services on a federal, provincial, and municipal level. Beside providing policing services to all Canadians nationally, the RCMP also delivers services under contract to the three territories, eight provinces (except Ontario and Quebec), nearly 200 municipalities, and nearly 200 First Nations communities.
