Abstract: Canada has one of the world's most
diverse aboriginal populations. Despite this diversity, there
is one attribute that many aboriginal bands and communities share:
a high rate of violent crime and victimization. This article
explores patterns of aboriginal crime in Canada and considers
the various explanations that have been offered for aboriginal
criminality and for the differences that exist between aboriginal
and non-aboriginal patterns of crime and victimization.
