A collaborative project between the UAA Justice Center and the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, the Alaska Victimization Surveys FY11 — designed to measure the incidence and prevalence of violence against women — will include a random survey of 600 adult women in the City of Fairbanks, a random survey of 600 adult women in the Municipality of Anchorage, and a random survey of up to 750 adult women in rural Alaska. These surveys will be modeled after the 2010 Alaska Victimization Survey, but will include additional information on the location of past year victimizations and on victimizations witnessed by children. All FY11 surveys will be modeled after the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Surveillance System (NISVSS) (as was the 2010 Alaska Victimization Survey).
