This project addresses the need to have available a standard set of meta-documents describing the sharing of justice information. In recent years real progress has been made on a national level in defining/implementing the National Information Exchange Model, or NIEM. Throughout this period the Alaska Justice Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) has stayed conversant with this implementation. SAC personnel are trained in NIEM, and are certified in the use of SEARCH's JIEM modeling software. The SAC, in the last year, has worked on establishing a library of NIEM compliant XML schemas, which are now available to be included in “Information Exchange Packet Documentation” (IEPD) protocols. The SAC proposes to model current Alaska documents/information exchanges, combined with the library of XML schemas, to create IEPD’s for our more common exchanges, and house them on its web available for download.
