The Justice Center at the University of Alaska Anchorage presents a workshop for administrators of Alaska community jails on March 18.
Presentation of this seminar is an initial step in the formation of a statewide research consortium, which will assess the common research needs of community jails and seek funds to underwrite research.
Police chiefs, or their representatives, from these 15 Alaska communities will participate: Barrow, Cordova, Craig, Dillingham, Haines, Homer, Kodiak, Kotzebue, King Salmon, Petersburg, Seward, Sitka, Unalaska, Valdez and Wrangell.
Establishment of the consortium is being funded by a grant from the National Institute of Justice. Professor Nancy Schafer of the Justice Center is directing the project.
