Policing in the 1980s and 1990s has undergone a dramatic
change in the scope of institutional responsibilities. The change
in organizational goal domain has been linked, theoretically,
to changes in police organizational structure. This project used
Law Enforcement Management and
Administrative Statistics (LEMAS) data and several other data
sources to explore the relation between domain expansion and
changes to organizational structure. This was a subcontract under
a grant from the National Institute of Justice.
