The Justice Center at the University
of Alaska Anchorage and the Alaska Native Justice Center have
announced that five students have each been awarded a scholarship
of $5000 for the 2000-2001 academic year. The five recipients
are: Joseph Lind, a social work major who was born in Chignik
Lake; Katrina Gregoire, a justice major born in Homer; Monica
Nelson, a justice major born in Port Lions; Lily Tuzroyluke,
a justice major born in Anchorage; and Erica Cleaver, a social
work major born in Anchorage.
The competition for the awards
was open to University of Alaska Anchorage students of Alaska
Native ethnicity who are majoring in justice or a related social
science discipline. The scholarships were funded by a gift from
CIRI to the University of Alaska.
