"Public Safety and Quality of Life: Alaska Perceptions"

Most Alaskans are satisfied with the quality of life in their communities, consider their communities as good places to raise children, consider their communities to be safe, and are willing to become involved in police and public safety efforts, according to results from a statewide public opinion survey conducted by the Justice Center for the Alaska Department of Public Safety.

Of an estimated 9,600 murder defendants in the nation's 75 most populous counties in 1988, six per cent -- or an estimated 540 defendants -- were persons charged with murdering their spouses.
