Abstract: In 1992 offenders armed with handguns committed approximately 931,000 violent crimes. Handgun crimes accounted for about 13 percent of all violent crimes. This report presents statistics from the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) on crimes involving handguns and other firearms for 1987-1992. Based on the BJS report "Guns and Crime," NCJ-147003.
