Electronic monitoring (EM) is a general term for systems involving electronic supervision of (usually low-risk) offenders as an alternative to incarceration. Monitoring devices may include home monitoring devices, wrist bracelets, ankle bracelets, field monitoring devices, alcohol testing devices, and voice verification systems.
