Program Objectives
The educational objectives of the Justice BA program
are to produce graduates who are:
- prepared to do social science research.
- prepared for a career in the Justice field.
- satisfied with the salary they received as a Justice Program graduate.
- employed/promoted in the Justice field/any field as a result of their
degree.
Program Outcomes
The specific educational outcomes that support the program objectives
are as follows:
- Students will have a functional understanding of the theories of
crime causation.
- Students will be able to identify the institutions of government
that are the sources of American law and will understand the cultural
forces which have influenced the development of American law.
- Students will develop a functional understanding of justice processes
and contemporary justice agencies, including their organization and
management.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to think and write in a logical
and critical manner.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to understand and evaluate
empirical research.
- Students will understand the impact of cultural diversity and cultural
biases in the administration of the justice system.
- Students will have opportunities to serve as interns to justice agencies,
administrators, and law offices, and to participate in Justice
Center SAC research projects.
